Are you a Grinch or do you love Christmas?

Decorating for the festive season is fun, but it can also be overwhelming with all the different themes possible! The best way to decide how to decorate is starting with the colour. Christmas decorations come in all different colours so why not try and match them with your decor you have already, or, make them stand out by picking contrasting colours. If you aren’t sure what colours to pick, start with a basic theme of wooden and white or cream and then add accents of the colours you like.

I have put together a little starting mood board of various Christmas decoration ideas and kept it simple. There is no need to go overboard at Christmas if you have a small space or a small budget. I also find the best way to build your Christmas decoration collection is to buy a little bit each year, you can then change up the colours and style year on year without breaking the bank.

A great way to decorate if you are in a small space is window stickers. They take up no floor space but can make your home feel festive and the kids can also help with putting them up! You can then couple this with some string lights in front to really make the colours pop.

Garlands can be put up almost anywhere and instantly transform your space to a wintery feel. You could get a simple one with just berries or mistletoe to line your table as a centre piece. Alternatively, if you have an archway in your home you could use a tension rod that reaches each side and wrap some greenery around this to bring some colour through the rooms.

However you decorate for Christmas, have fun with it. Get the mulled wine, mince pies and whack up the Christmas tunes!
